Yale Global Scholar Program- Singapore: a new way of summer
Summer are the best part of the year, as it let you unwind and
allows you to have a variety of experience from enjoying a sun bath at a beach
to watching your favorites movie while sitting in A.C. well that’s a matter of
choice and sometimes it’s an opportunity in my case, I would say it was an
opportunity which I chose for enjoying my summers. By this chosen opportunity I
meant about Yale global scholar program at Yale NUS in Singapore, One of the most
prestigious summer program in the world.
When I got accepted to YYGS Singapore I was super excited!!
The only thing I knew was that I have to attend a summer school at Yale NUS.
The kind of excitement I experienced was a combination of my heartfelt
happiness and hesitation! As the day for my departure to the university came
closer, I became more and more trilled for my first ever experience of a summer
program; that to at the world’s best university.
And when I got into the university, this program far
exceeded my expectations. If I have to explain my experience there, I would be
speechless but to start with at the beginning of the first day, it seemed like
daunting time just looming in the distance but as the day moved on it became
more and more spectacular, it gave me a chance to interact with students from a
diverse range of backgrounds and cultures and probably best minds across the
globe and such highly motivated individuals who offered me a different
perspective of world.
Beside this there were a wide array of activities for the
individuals to make them more accustomed to the university, their instructors
and their teammates. There were lectures and seminars from the top knot
professors and instructors, who are specialists in their field and had the
potential to propel you to the next level & the best part of the program
was when we got the opportunity to talk face to face with them.
After the seminars comes the FUN part of the day the
students used to gather in common rooms or in the university town area; where they
get share there day’s experiences and do interesting activities from playing
soccer in the field to playing card in the common room or working on the
capstone project or any other exclamatory activity. Everything was so
interesting, so lively that it made me feel at home.
This program also gave us
an insight how a typical day at a university would look like? And it even
taught me how demanding is the work input and that, time management skills are
vital to be a successful college student.
Truly, These seven days was one the best experience my life
and I am deeply grateful to Yale for honoring me with this one in a lifetime
opportunity and I am proud to be a part of YYGS community. I wish that I could
have got some more time to spend there.
